   From the Preface -

The intent of this work is three-fold:

•   To address the paucity of published materials expressly for New Mexico genealogists
and family historians relative to New Mexico Indian tribes.

•   To call attention to the wealth of materials in the form of federal records, both
microfilmed and in manuscript form, that do exist for genealogists and family historians
researching New Mexico Indian tribes.

•   To call attention to alternative record sources that although may take some effort to
locate and search, are laden with genealogically important information and clues for
further research.
